Call for Choirs – ANCA Choralfest 2019

The Choralfest^® 2019 committee invites choirs to express an interest in performing at Choralfest^® 2019 in various venues around Fremantle Western Australia. Performance opportunities will include Choralfest^® daily lunchtime concerts, pop up concerts and evening concerts as well as a range of performance opportunities around Fremantle and possibly in Perth and regional areas. Choirs may include any type of choral ensemble performing at a high level in any style. Opportunities are being developed for choirs to work with guest conductors in workshops/honour choirs (fees may apply).

FREMANTLE was named in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2016 and is now ranked the 7th-best city in the world, behind the top-ranked Kotor in Montenegro but ahead of the 10th-placed Rome! – so why wouldn’t you come and bring your choir!

Key Information

• Australian Choirs are required to be a member of ANCA^® and all choirs are expected to meet their own expenses.
• An administrative charge of $175 will apply for all successful choirs.
• Closing Date for expressions of Interest: 30 April 2018
• Choirs will be notified by: End June 2018
• Interstate and International choirs will be offered at least 2 performance opportunities
• Final Repertoire selections to be submitted for committee approval by: 31 December 2018 (to include full details of repertoire to be performed, including duration, composer/arranger and publisher. We encourage choirs to include music by Australian composer’s in their repertoire or from their own country if an International choir.
• On selection choirs will be asked to provide program information for the conference handbook and concert programs.

Application Process

Online applications via the website are preferred. Along with your application please send a recent recording.  In your application, include the following information:

• Name of Group and Name of conductor
• Key contact for Group and contact details,
• Any restrictions on availability
• Group Photo
• Recent recording (less than 12 months old) as either CD or digital (mp3 or You Tube) link
• Number, type and age group of choristers: Community Adult, Community Youth, Primary School, Secondary School, University)
• Bio of Group – including a brief summary of the group’s activity (half A4 page)
• Description of Style and proposed program (including examples of possible repertoire)
• Indicate preferences for involvement in open air concerts, ‘pop up concerts’, work as ‘lab’ choirs for workshops, participation in church services on Palm Sunday
